A few more of my favorites: 6) The State: Before The Situation was flexing his abs on the Jersey Shore, Capt. Monterey Jack was professing the importance of shoelaces on The State. Weird, funny, and original, The State is probably the best thing MTV ever aired, music or otherwise. Haven't seen this State, but it would be beyond difficult for any show to top Daria's first season. I knew you would bring up Daria. It's difficult to compare the two, because they both have very different styles of humor. The whole series of The State is on Instant Queue. I'd love for you to watch it and weigh in on this.

Ah... it's a sketch show.
Well, there you are right there. It's not hard for this show to be the best of Mtv's skit shows (although I personally died during every episode of Cartoon Sushi - my avatar), but you really can't deny that a show with a real storyline is usually going to be the best.
Sketch shows are usually too anarchic for me to be able to pin down. But, I might have some time tomorrow.

7) The Wire: Undoubtedly the smartest drama to ever hit Tv, The Wire is a criminally underrated masterpiece. It's no hyperbole to say that The Wire is the greatest television show ever. The characters are incredibly deep and well portrayed by the actors, the drama stayed fresh and original throughout the 5 seasons. NSFW language in these clips. This was an HBO show. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0B-QE_g3JPUwww.youtube.com/watch?v=KQbsnSVM1zMwww.youtube.com/watch?v=ueDjiAm5rzEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=UmtuRRhtGQwwww.youtube.com/watch?v=Sy0VRRVs9wM8) Oz: Many people don't realize that Oz was the innovator for the hour long, premium cable, adult dramas, that permeate todays networks. The show itself was incredible for a multitude of reasons: chief among them would be the performances. An interesting note about the characters on Oz is that, even though all of them are guilty of heinous crimes, you can still sympathize with them. Well not all of them.

I used to watch some episodes of Oz because my mom would watch it as well as my uncle. It was a cool show, but I only saw like half of season one and maybe a bit more of season two and stopped. But what I say, it was inventive and went pretty far.
As far as The Wire, my uncle bought it thinking it would be like Oz, he said even though it's not, it's not bad what it is.

I've always wanted to check out that show but when it started, I didn't have Showtime (or HBO, whichever channel it was on).

9) Breaking Bad: Underneath the piles of generic dramas and reality shows lays Breaking Bad, without a doubt the best show on Tv now. A fresh, original take on shows like The Wire and The Sopranos , Breaking Bad is a dark, weird, funny thrill ride through the life of Walter White, and his struggle to provide for his family. 10) The Venture Bros.: The most surprising thing about The Venture Bros. is how invested you become in the characters. A rare thing for a comedy to do. And holy hell, is this a comedy. Maybe the funniest show on the air. It's a brilliant spoof of shows like Johnny Quest, but also has its own brand of original comedy.

Venture Bros. is the best, The Monarch and Dr. Girlfriend are two of my favorite characters in the show and I like how the characters are always connected to other people in that show! ;D

11) The Simpsons: Once upon a time, The Simpsons was the best thing on television. Its brand of original, risque humor and heartwrenching family drama beat any of the sitcoms that it was competing with. Now, The Simpsons is nothing more than a number: how many seasons can it go on until no one watches. But, from 1990 to 1997, The Simpsons was pure magic. Without a doubt the most important show to ever air. 12) Futurama: While not as popular or important as The Simpsons, Futurama was really something special: a show by nerd, for nerds. Sci fi geeks such as myself eat this one up, until FOX decided to take it away from us. Luckily, the fan outcry gave us the return we deserve, and Futurama now has a new home on Comedy Central. Now, if we could only get Arrested Development back... 13)South Park: South Park is a show with balls. No other 4th grader on Tv has done the vile, disgusting, hateful things Eric Cartman has done. But that's why we love him, and this show.

1 Doctor Who (Original Series 1963-1989) Best sci- fi show ever. (The modern version can be okay sometimes but its a bit too bombastic and Hollywood and mainstream for me; the original is still the best). 2 Buffy 3 Twin Peaks Still one of the most remarkable television series ever. 4 Press Gang This comedy-drama made for kids tv in the UK ran for 5 seasons between 1989-1993 and is genuinely brilliant, with cracking one-liners, powerfully mature drama and a great cast. Too good for kids, frankly. 5 Roseanne What the guy on page 1 said (and I entirely agree about seasons 4 and 5 being its absolute peak!)

1 Doctor Who (Original Series 1963-1989) Best sci- fi show ever. Whoa, whoa, whoa. We all know Star Trek TNG is the best sci fi series that has ever existed, or will ever exist.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. We all know Star Trek TNG is the best sci fi series that has ever existed, or will ever exist. LOL Yeah, right. Yes, exactly. I am right. The original Star Trek is way better, I thought. TNG had it's moments. The only Star Trek series that TOS is better than is Enterprise. And let's not talk about Enterprise. TNG, DS9. and even Voyager are all superior shows.
