"I'm just a kid who's four, each day I grow some more..."
For those who didn't know, I have an extreme love and fondness for shows of my youth. The way I see it, when you get older, it doesn't make a bit of sense that stop loving or enjoying the things you grew up with. To me, a great time on the couch is sitting with a pint of Ben and Jerry's and watching an episode of Arthur, The Berenstain Bears, Caillou, or one of my Dragon Tales DVD's. I am sure to get scolded by my father in some regard, but that's whatever. I simply love appreciating the programs of my childhood. This is further evident if you look back a bit in my career as a writer and see I even began publishing reviews on the 2003 episodes of The Berenstain Bears series, stevethemovieman.proboards.com/thread/1992/berenstain-bears-2003-series-reviews
However, one of the aforementioned programs is different from the other and that program is Caillou - if you follow me on Twitter, I've made my disdain for Caillou pretty known, but I feel it's time to dive in in a more intellectual and professional state-of-mind to say just why I can't stand the program. I've seen about seventy-five to eighty percent of the series' episodes (some at an upwards of fifteen times and I'm not kidding), and I feel that maybe I can start doing reviews of the episodes/shorts of the show on a semi-regular basis.
Caillou airs on the PBS Kids Sprout network from 11am - Noon (Central Standard Time) every day and a few other quirky times throughout the week as well. I am usually busy with writing, a movie, or some sort of oddjob/chore at that time, but I feel that with this review series in mind I can make the time-management work. Who knows how long this will go for? Don't be surprised if I run out of ideas and comments by the fourth or fifth review. The length of these reviews/this series in general will vary. The Berenstain Bears got ten reviews out of me and I plan to maybe casually revive the series reviews at some point since, looking back, I remember having a great deal of fun with the episodes. It all depends; I gotta keep a steady influx of film reviewing as well before college hits me like a ton of bricks in September.
At any rate, this series will start whenever, go on for however long I think it should go on, and then end whenever. Hope that's specific enough. This is the thread where you'll be able to find all the reviews of Caillou. Stay tuned and enjoy...
