Jim Killeen directs and stars in his first movie, Google Me.
Rating: ★★★½
Google Me is one great documentary. It's a very unique movie involving one of the most visited websites every single day, Google. It's witty filmmaker, Jim Killeen has an interesting take on life. Plus he has a funny partner by his side.
The film follows the life of Jim Killeen, a 38 year old man who feels he has done nothing in his life and feels he is reaching midlife crisis level. He does the unthinkable and simply Googles himself.
He decides to get in touch with everybody he found on the search by calling them and meeting with them in their home town. With over 26 people found with the name Jim Killeen, he only got in touch with a certain number since most didn't have their location listed. And even out of the certain number, some rejected.
The documentary really makes you feel that you are not alone and that you are different in your own way. Just because you have the same name. Everyone has a different personality, and it's up to you to find it.
The thing I like most about this movie, as it's one movie that you cannot copy or remake in any way. If someone else tries to do this it will have to be a direct copy. There's no way you can make this movie fresh and new. You have to take elements of Jim's work.
Google Me has a lot of heart and delivers several strong morals. The one I find the most helpful and heartfelt is. You may have the same name, but the personalities will always be different.
Starring: Jim Killeen. Directed by: Jim Killeen.
