Do I really need to explain these things any more? Historical figures aren't just dead people. They are people who have had lasting impacts on our world. Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt "You see, it takes more than one bullet to kill a Bull Moose." This quote was given after he was shot. He still made his goddamn speech. Ernest Hemingway "Poor Faulkner. Does he really think big emotions come from big words? He thinks I don't know the ten-dollar words. I know them all right. But there are older and simpler and better words, and those are the ones I use." A word of caution to all writers. Hunter S. Thompson "I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me." A word of "caution" to all writers? Abraham Lincoln "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Ugliness is not a factor when you are the best politician to ever live. Napoleon Bonaparte "If you want a thing done well, do it yourself." Size doesn't matter.

I'm not a huge history fan. But I have nothing against it really. I liked Abe Lincoln, JFK, and Reagan if we're talking about presidents. I also find the time of FDR and The Russian Revolution very exciting. I can't say Czar Nicholas II was one I admire, but it's interesting nonetheless.
The point in history I find the most interesting, truthfully, is right after The Great Depression when things started to move again with "the baby boom." Modern technology was coming into play, like the television, and in a decade we go into one of the most interesting wars of all time - Vietnam.

JFK and Ronnie are probably the last two great presidents we have had. I neglected to include Einstein and Gandhi because I feel those are people on everyone's list.

That's funny, Steve. Again: Reagen would be on my list for all-time MOST EVIL Historical Figures. You hate Repubs so no surprise there. I hate people who suck money off of the lower and middle classes to pump into the already better off upper class, and so should you, Steve. I hate self-serving bastards, and I thought you did too. I hate social conservatives who wait over 5 years to announce to the country there is a disease epidemic killing thousands of Americans because he believed gay people deserved to die and so should everyone. In fact, after the disease ravaged the gay community, it became prevalent with blacks and even then- he stayed silent. Then, it spread to white women. And when it FINALLY got to white men, that's when he decided to tell the country about it and start getting people to research it. Even then, years afterward, people believed you could get AIDS from just kissing a gay person. Sharon Stone was rushed off to the hospital to be tested after she kissed Rock Hudson in a TV show. Reagan was one of the worst presidents America ever had. He legitimately wanted to hurt this country and he did.

I hate people who suck money off of the lower and middle classes to pump into the already better off upper class I hate people that take from the rich and middle class to give to the undeserving poor. Why should we have to empty our wallets to non-achievers that will continue to sit on their ass and suck up the money we give them? That doesn't inspire them to work, and I don't know what the hell Obama is thinking. If you keep spoon feeding the poor free money they will continue to take it and use it to their advantage until they get no more. "Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money to spend."

Wow, Steve, a lot of ASSUMPTIONS made in that reply.
Obama isn't a socialist. He's technically a centrist. Which of course is the same as about a 1970's Republican. You are being told otherwise by people who are lying to you. Besides, I believe you're referring to the economic stimulus debacle. An act of desperation because, thanks to the Republicans you keep blindly defending: lower and middle class Americans didn't have enough money to afford to buy from businesses like they did when Clinton was president and business suffered. Therefore, businesses were having trouble NOT cutting jobs. Especially businesses run by people in the middle class. Are you seeing the pattern here yet?
Republicans want you to believe that higher taxes on the wealthy is what makes jobs get cut. But we wouldn't know because even when Democrats are in-control, the richest Americans still get the most tax breaks. So, we know that Democrats actually work harder to keep jobs in-tact. Meanwhile, why do the Republicans lie so much? Because, as I've said numerous times, they benefit the most from higher taxes on me and you (depending on what - since you live with your parents - your parents make a year).
They recruit followers (namely: YOU) by doing one of 3 things:
1) by portraying Democrats as Liberals (which they haven't been since the 1980's, uniformly) and Liberals as irrationally soft, weak, and weepy tree-huggers as well as defenders of bums on welfare (WHICH THEY ARE NOT) and minorities (which they are). I've already explained that Republicans represent ultra-white, heterosexual, and male values as a kind of dumb slate. They have indoctrinated some women and A FEW blacks into their ranks but, as evidenced on the likes of Fox News, they are used as tokens to attack other black people or defend a white racist. And, since you continue to try and wag your blatantly ignorant "Yay! Republicans" view in my face after I presented you with a mountain of evidence proving how anti-gay they are, I'll just say it's been WELL documented by many others. I'm not the first one to point it out.
Anyway, that's the 2nd trick they use to get followers. They play on people's prejudices against blacks, Latino's, Asians, and people of the various Middle-Eastern descents (if they make you feel excluded), women (for every guy who had a girl who just wasn't into them), and gay people (for every guy who thinks every gay guy either is like the Michael Jackson jokes or wants to grab YOUR ass). Not to mention religion. Because a great many Americans continue to have the archaic belief that any religion that doesn't worship Jesus by name is wrong and completely insane. Even though this happens to be true: Jesus was created in only SOME parts of the world. MANY, many countries have only heard of Jesus through Europe or North America. So, Republicans build a fear of people who don't live or think the way you do and say they blindly follow the liberals or want to tear down The Great Conservative Swindle.
And that last reference is #3) they want you to believe you can live like they do. I have seen this with my own eyes. From The 700 Club to E-Mail programs, Pro-Conservative Assholes send you smear campaigns about Democrats and various Hollywood celebrities to make you believe they hate you. Meanwhile, next to the Hate Mail, they give you adds for Get Rich Quick scams and various health-related information to make you believe they care about how you're doing. Here's how you know they don't care: The Democrats have an actual health care plan they've presented to help the MILLIONS of Americans who are slowly dying because - thanks to the Republicans - they can't afford insurance or doctor's visits. But Republicans don't want us to have any. You may be thinking... why? Because, as Bill Maher has said, they're out of their minds.
Here's a good clue to how they got this way: Republican politicians have for a long time been Public Representatives (aka: PR) for Big Business interests. They haven't been working for you or me, the tax-payers / citizens. They've been working for Corporations and Rich Americans who are members of various Businesses. They do this because the Rich People have enough money to control CAMPAIGN FINANCES. They pump a certain amount of money into getting Republicans re-elected and, as a result, Republicans fix Taxes in their favor.
This is old, it's been going on for a LONG time. But, since it's been going on, every single time a Republican stays in power, the corporations and businesses get more powerful. Therefore, Politics Today are not controlled by Democrats or Republicans- it's controlled by the Corporations who paid for each separate politician's campaign. As a way to fight Republicans and get power back, the Democrats began playing the same game. They offer various benefits for Rich People who support their campaigns. PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION NOW, this is important: this is why Voter Fraud was introduced in the 2000 and 2004 elections (and, possibly, 2008). Electronic voting is a scam and will be controversial forever. It was designed to erase votes for blacks and various people should it be discovered by the counters that they voted for the Democrat. Subsequently, ACORN is a Democrat scam to combat electronic voting fraud by Republicans.
But here's the joke... You probably think Democrats were the only cheaters. It took them 9 years to figure out how to outdo the Republicans. But, again Steve, here's the thing you need to realize: it is not the Democrats, it's the corporations who own them making these decisions. Every time you make a bad joke or ignorant comment about Republicans, thereby insulting the Democrats, you're failing to see the person pulling their strings. And that's because: That's the Point. Politicians are Puppets. They are, as I said, Public Representatives of International Corporations. Most of the figures in the corporations stay silent.
And, everytime you argue that Republicans are trying to keep money in the middle class, you fail to see what's really going on. Not only are they shipping off most of the money to the already Rich rather than YOU or ME, the middle class, but... well, for your example to work...
Actually, wait a second, I think I just realized something:
You just said: the lower class don't work at all and that their money (which they don't have, since they don't work: your words) should be given to rich people.
Did you mean to say that?
