Dunn & Vito's Rock Tour serves as a nice time capsule of something that was probably fun to do, but isn't too much fun to watch. It's more behind the scenes footage than anything, and lacks a lot of the clips from the concert which seemed to be the most interesting part.
The concert has a Rocky Horror feel to it with a lot of of the fun and entertainment coming from the audience. Girls come on stage to suck on Don Vito's toes probably just for the fun of sucking on a celeb's toes, and so much noise and camaraderie between fans and the band is actually quite amusing. We get about five minutes of interesting footage, then it's back to just ho-hum conversation with the crew.
The Dvd falsely states that Steve-O makes an appearance when he doesn't. False advertising at its finest. We do see Brandon DiCamillo which is fun, and the whole thing provides a Steve-O: Don't Try This At Home feel.
About halfway through the already slim and slender, little-over-an-hour special it starts to become Don Vito's Rock Tour more than "Dunn and Vito's." I really enjoy Don Vito (played by Vincent Margera, Bam's uncle), but I also enjoy Ryan Dunn, who is in this special far too little and far too toned down. The worst thing about it was the narrator on the swing (DiCamillo). I could do without that. But the authenticity of Don Vito's public drunkenness is fifty-fifty. Real or fake I couldn't tell.
Dunn & Vito's Rock Tour isn't a horrible special, and I wouldn't advise against viewing it. Any fan of Jackass, Viva La Bam, Dunn, and Don Vito will certainly look onto this with great anticipation. There is just not a lot here. Lots of footage seems cut, and it is if it ends on an abrupt and incomplete note. When it comes down to the final tour in Vermont, they do not show much concert. Only about two minutes worth. All is well, but could be even...weller?
Starring: Ryan Dunn, Vincent Margera, and Brandon DiCamillo.
