I kind of thought that he wouldn't stick around much longer. He's a really nice guy, and truthfully, I kind of miss him. He was a kind soul most of the time. But he's probably in a better place - Whiskey Media. I really don't know why I took such a long break. Wait a second, he wasn't an atheist? Huh?

As for Jib, I'd never delete my account and I'd certainly never leave because of a pro-atheist post. As for my belief classification, I haven't really decided what to believe in. Part of me says atheist, part says agnostic, and a very small part of me says Catholic.

Well... all of me says: it doesn't matter. I mean, religion is for spiritual comfort and making people feel like they're not going to hell. I've made some REALLY bad mistakes which I believe would get me held up in purgatory but I didn't want to hurt anyone or anything really and have tortured myself for years feeling guilty and resenting the bad things I've done. So, even though I don't have peace- I know I'm not going to hell no matter how much of an Angry Father people think God is.
If there are no real pits of hell where "sinners" burn (for the most abstract reasons you can imagine, think about that for a second), why should I be worried? The thing that really matters is the life we know and can see and feel. We don't know what's going to happen later but if this God is so almighty and powerful, he / she / it / they know we have to do some bad things just to survive. For example, we learn to kill from instinct and patterns we see in nature. Nature is a cruel motherfucker. Where is God and justice for animals who rip each other apart senselessly? Oh right... "they weren't created in His image." The saddest excuse I have ever heard.
And no matter who we are or what we haven't done, we are still culpable in murders being commited every day if we don't stop the death penalty. And abortion? How can anyone - whether you're for or against it - know for a fact that we're killing if the life in question is still in development? At one point, it's a blob of absolute nothingness that can't feel pain, and then just what a week or a couple of days later, it's a baby which can start to think and feel. The point, of course is, murder isn't always murder. Killing a murderer can save lives and killing a baby when it's a blob is no different than a man ejaculating sperm that will never impregnate an egg or a woman whose body flushes eggs during her period which is completely natural and even women who are barren do without trying.
I just use common sense. How can a God judge lives he hasn't lived? More importantly: condemn people to Hell for perfectly honest, human mistakes? Hell- some people who kill are completely insane at the time. Did God make them crazy? Do crazy people go to Hell if it's not their fault their brain wasn't right? Are they magically sane when they "cross over"? And what about people who are taught by bad environment. They never had anyone to tell them killing was wrong- they just see it happen and know that's the only way to survive. And how can some people say one God judges everyone when there are literally dozens of dozens of cultures in the world who have raised themselves to believe in other Gods? Some people never heard of Jesus Christ but have Gods of their own that are every bit as old as Jesus. How can - what - Jesus's father be the one true creator when there are Gods as old or older than him? People are being told that there is one God and all others are just made up but that's a flat-out lie. Everyone's God seems to have been made up in a different part of the world. Yet, the American religions tell us our God was first and he warns that if you worship another God- you're going to Hell. Forget what a crock of shit that sounds like just as a kneejerk reaction... it plain old doesn't make any sense.
These are the things that remind me how flawed the whole idea of religion really is. It couldn't have more holes in it. Therefore, so long as you don't try to hurt others to the best of your ability, you're a good person and "God" will just have to fucking deal with the fact that (they) can't judge you. What right do (they) have anyway if they haven't lived your life? You take all the pain and suffering and fear and everything else... yet some son of a bitch sits on (their) ass and is allowed to judge you?? Where the fuck was this fucker when you were actually there, having to make a choice and deal with the consequences for the rest of our life? A life we lived and (they) watched. Makes "God" sound like a real sadist and an ego-driven voyeur.
Anyway: a little method to my madness.

Well, Steve & HD, like you guys I'm kind of confused religious-wise. For the most part, I am an atheist, but a small part of me is agnostic. That "small part" represents my desire for wanting God to exist. I do want him to exist, I really do. Sadly, the reality is that God is does NOT exist and that we as human beings our left to fend for ourselves. I give more details in my Totally Bogus blog, which you might enjoy HD if you haven't already: stevethemovieman.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=sjtb&thread=2224&page=1Well... all of me says: it doesn't matter.
