In honor of an underrated holiday, my new November movie watching event will begin on Wednesday, November 23 (also when my school breaks starts). I'll be watching quite a few movies during the time period, and the event will come to a close on November 27. I don't think a ton of films will be watched, but I want to view at least seven or so. This is leading up to my next movie watching event coming in December. I don't want to ruin a lot of it, but I plan to review many films in that period, and also review three of the most captivating shorts ever made. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
UPDATE: Almost done planning all I want to watch. Probably the first movie watching event I'm conducting this way. Usually I play everything by ear. This time I want to incorporate many films of different varieties, hence the name "Giving Thanks to the World of Film." It's supposed to be broad, not condensed to one or two specific genres.
Here's a schedule of what I watched over the course of the event.
November 23: Country Strong (2 stars), Pink Flamingos (No star rating). November 24: The Muppets (3 stars), Judy Moody and the NOT Bummer Summer (1.5 stars). November 25: Titicut Follies (3.5 stars), Down and Out in Beverly Hills (2.5 stars). November 26: The Descendants (4 stars), Happy Gilmore (2 stars). November 27: Strange Wilderness (2 stars), Grandma's Boy (3 stars).
Overall Rating: ★★½

Watching the Muppet movies would certainly liven up this dull month / holiday for me. Starting with Christmas, every non-military themed holiday is a party and Thanksgiving is like Church. It's a Sunday holiday. It's a sit and be bored while someone cooks boring food holiday. Turkey is boring. Potatoes are boring when not served with steak. Beans? Yawn. Yams? I don't even know what those taste like. Sweet potatoes? BARF! Cranberry sauce? Invented for people with no teeth. Squash? Again, for people with no teeth. Why don't just whip out the watermelon ice cream too.
I've always dreamed of a non-traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Ron Swanson would be the host and he would serve eggs and STEAK!

I've gone by my grandma's (the one who thought me "scrotum)" every year since I can remember. The meal is fantastic, and the company is warm and welcomed. It's just a fun time of the year. But same goes with Christmas; the true beauty is being off of work/school. I have SO MUCH STRESS now in school I need film escapism. I have a D+ in Art of all Godforsaken classes, and a C in Geometry. Everything else is very good (think high A's and B's). The Muppets will give me time to chill my scrotum . Also, coming from a person who just got his braces off - I love cranberry sauce. Another thing I can thank my grandma for. Sweet potatoes and yams? Not at all.
