Due to rising political discussion on the forum, a new board has been created to house it all. All existing political threads, typically from the "Off Topic" section, have all been placed here for now. Although I'm not politically savvy myself, that doesn't mean I'll restrict discussion on it. I've been ignoring this typical board for quite sometime now. In the past I've started to make it, only to discard it almost immediately. The reason being I don't want any sour feelings towards anyone on the forum.
This board was erected so that movie lovers of all ages can discuss their favorite films, among other topics in the media like Television shows, music, video games, and don't forget my reviews on all of those things. Never did it dawn on me that people also have their own political bias, not to mention their own views on issues. Since this board is completely opinion driven, and because I'm trying to become as diverse and as educated as possible, I think a political discussion board is necessary.
What I really do not want this specific section of the forum to turn into is a flame war. I don't want this to become pro-gay vs. anti-gay, pro-life vs. pro-choice, Republican vs. Democrat, etc. I'm not blacklisting those topics. I'd actually would like them to be created at one point. What I don't want is sour treatment of others or ridiculing because of personal beliefs. Believe me, I've had that happen to me far more times than you can possibly imagine.
Because he is one of the main political contributors on the forum, I'm giving the moderator position on the board to "zender." He could also, very well be, the member of the month (January). He has shown himself to be mature during a debate, has posted a great amount, is one of the most active new members in recent time, has become a regular contributor, and has created a number of, mostly, useful threads, including "Obama on SOPA," which went on to become a three page thread - a rarity for traditional threads on the forum.
If there are any disagreements in the specific section that are taken in a childish, intolerable, or unacceptable manner you will be met with a warning, a temporary banishment, or a permanent one.
Everyone on the board is smart, intelligent, and wholly capable of being mature, and I highly doubt that anything truly serious will occur in this section. I appreciate all your contributions on the forum, and hope to continue seeing this forum active and successful. May doth continue to post on thou message board.
