Seeing how there have been a lot of threads about politics recently, I thought I'd start a poll about theistic beliefs (or lack of thereof). Much like how things have (mostly) been kept cool in those threads, I expect the same for this one. So please do not flame or troll others just because they don't share the same beliefs as you. So anyway, where do you stand on the issue of "the existence of God (or any similiar concept)?" As for me, most of you should know that I am an atheist to the core, especially since I cannot stress enough about how every prayer I have ever made has gone unheeded. That became one of the reasons why I came to the realization that God does not exist. The rest of my justification for my atheistic stand can be found here (reader discretion is advised): stevethemovieman.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=sjtb&action=display&thread=2224&page=1

I hate religion. Period. Point. Blank. Can't stand it, don't have any use for it, it's not for me at all. People don't understand what I mean when I say that, so let me try and reword this delicately. I was never raised in a religious way. I never went to church at all. I attended church in a pre-school, but that was only for a year. I've been going to public school since Kindergarten. Of course, I celebrate religious holidays such as Christmas, but I've never been to church on those days. I was never raised to rely on it, therefore, I've taught myself not to need it. I'd love to believe in a God, but I can't wrap my head around the idea. There's no hardcore, incorruptible evidence, thus I really can't believe in it. Just like global warming. There's just opinions posed as facts, heavy blame, the feeling of inferiority, and scary music.
Let's put it this way; I'm a free thinking skeptic who doesn't look to religion to solve his problems.

There's just opinions posed as facts, heavy blame, the feeling of inferiority, and scary music. Let's put it this way; I'm a free thinking skeptic who doesn't look to religion to solve his problems. Well put, Steve. Even if you do remain agnostic, I really like the point you make. God will not solve your problems, which one of the many reasons why I FUCKING HATE God. Though will come a day when science will find the evidence that disproves God's existence. Even though it is said that the existence of God is one of several concepts that science will never be able to answer, but I STRONGLY disagree. Scientists just need to keep looking, and I KNOW that they will find the evidence. After all, there are not very many things separating God from Santa Claus. As for church, like you Steve, I was never brought to atttend church. In fact, I only attended church ONCE in my whole lifetime, and that one time I attended I just absolutely hated it. And I mean I REALLY HATED IT! The only thing I liked was the free doughnut at the end, but that is it. When I look back, I find the free doughnuts to be insulting, since it is there way to bribe people into coming back. No doughnut is worth sucking up to their bullshit! As for religious holidays, I honestly don't celebrate any of them except for Christmas. The reason I celebrate it is because my family and society in general pretty much make me. If it were entirely up to me, I as a true atheist would choose to skip out on Christmas like I do with Valentine's Day. It's funny that the Jews are allowed to skip out on Christmas (since they have Hannukah), yet the atheists are pressured into celebrating Christmas because we don't have a holiday of our own. Thankfully, this whole Mayan doomsday theory is just exactly what we need to take down Christmas once and for all. ;D

I'm not agnostic. I consider myself a religious nothing. Skeptic is the proper word. I won't believe it till I see it.

So you won't ever consider yourself an atheist unless there is scientific proof that confirms that God DOES NOT exist? I hear ya, man, but the "evidence" around us is all I need to be an atheist. For one thing, I read about six or so books of the Bible, and that far in I already found it all to be outrageous and literally unbelievable.

So you won't ever consider yourself an atheist unless there is scientific proof that confirms that God DOES NOT exist? Atheist is such a strong word. After all, I don't have proof God doesn't exist. I just think it's very hard to believe, and sort of an outdated concept. I think the reason God was "created" was because people way back when needed some sort of authoritative figure to "tell" them right and wrong. Now, we have law and order. There's really no need for any God anymore. Unless people just want to not blame themselves and believe a big man in the sky is controlling their destiny. Hey, if you find solace in that it's okay with me (not that I have the final say in things anyway). Just leave it out of the discussion when you're with me. Brilliant words from Brian Patrick O'Toole.

Brilliant words from Brian Patrick O'Toole. Actually, you do. It may not be scientific, but just ask yourself questions like the following and it will really get you thinking: Could God create a burrito so hot that even he could NOT eat it? If everything God says is truth, then can God lie? If God created the us and the universe, then who created God (and then who created whoever created God, and so forth)? Some interesting food for thought. I just hope I am not upsetting you, Steve, but those are definitely questions to ponder (assuming that your head doesn't explode! ).

Good thing we're not scientoligist that religion and it's god is really weird and fucked up! I totally agree, Pat! In fact, the next installment of Totally Bogus! will cover Scientology, along with PETA (both of which are organizations I hate with passion). I know Steve does not know much about either of them, but it is primarily my "series" (he even said so himself), so I'll do the research and the majority of the writing, and he will back up my exhibition as best as he can. (For one thing, Steve could make fun of the fact that so many gullible celebrities buy into it, like they do with the 2012 Phenomenon.)

I was going to ask you when the next Steve and Jib episode will be made. I'm really looking forward to discussing it, regardless of what the topic is. If need be I'll teach myself some things.

Define "god". A superior being, a creator or a force. Perhaps "god" can be a scientific force that was the basis of all existence (like the Big Bang). God (capitalized): In all forms of monotheism, God is the creator and watcher of the universe, the provider of knowledge of right and wrong, and ultimate decider in one's fate.god (lower case): a deity; a particular spirit that is believed to serve a purpose in an aspect of life. Example: "Dionysous was the ancient Greek god of wine and partying."So I take it that you do not believe in God, Eduljee? I don't, especially since there is VERY LITTLE that separate him (by the way, capitalization of all pronouns that relate to God really grind my gears) from Santa Claus.

I guess I can only say, My believes are that religion is just people looking for something for comfort so they believe in something which they don't know that is real or not. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying if you do believe in god that comfort is the only reason, but personally just think that is a huge part of it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying if you do believe in god that comfort is the only reason, but personally just think that is a huge part of it. Some people believe in it for comfort, which is fine, if you keep it to yourself. The people that force others to have and believe in the same faith as you do is a gratuitous practice.
