As some of you have heard, on thursday night I deleted my messge board due to a lack of activity for over a year. While I do not regret my decision, I do miss and wish I could have done much more to keep it from being such a failure. I am a member of countless online communities (after all, I am a no-lifer), but I was hoping that it would be my one refuge from anarchistic trolls and authoritarian mods & admins. Yet, over time I have come to really hate message boards (as well as the Internet), and thus I did not wish to bear the responsibility of hopelessly giving life to an utterly dead message board. However, Steve's Forum, this forum, is another refuge away from those less desirable ones. So I will do what I can to bring more life into this place and continue to partake with you folks in posting for years to come.

Just wondering are you still gonna post on The Don & Murph Proboards?

This due to how it is a dead message board like Jib's Realm and even Kuroikappa's Den.

I'm gonna miss the Transformers and Beast Wars thread! Just wondering are you still gonna post on The Don & Murph Proboards? ?? No, I am afraid that I will not be posting on the D&M Forums ever again. This due to how it is a dead message board like Jib's Realm and even Kuroikappa's Den. I apologize for not coming here to pay my respects earlier. Must've looked over this thread and didn't see it in "The Last Message Posted" box. Anyway, it really sucks Jib's Realm went down the tubes and I don't blame you for not posting on the Message Board. I'll never forget the Summer of '09 (Cue music: "Those were the best days of my life"). I joined D&M on June 12th, 2009 and posted up a storm. It was because of that little message board I found a whole new way of communicating with people who love the same thing as me. I remember copying you on the thread of "Least Favorite Movie." Sorry, wanted to make my own to just play around and shit. I went on to have the best summer of my life with Kenan & Kel in the mornings, long nights up on the site, up at the asscrack starting more conversations, and even forming my board on August 13, 2009. There was a lot of good that summer. It really sucks to see Jib's Realm go. I really must admit though, I feel shitty that I didn't go on it and post as much as you did to mine. I checked it at least twice a week. I think the problem was that you had a lot of boards on there that just appealed to you and were not universal to everyone (ie: Transformers figures). Not everyone likes those or knows about those. That would be like me making a board of Hank Williams. Nobody would know, or care. Ya see? Doesn't mean what you like it "stupid" or "gay" it just means that you have a very eclectic tastes like myself. Boy, I have a lot of weird things I like. Maybe in a year open up another forum. I just don't want this to become a Jib-quits-all-message-boards-year. I really appreciate you sticking by me and being a great mod on this forum. And even though, when you call, I don't always answer (because my phone is usually off or on my computer desk) I still listen to your Voicemails and smile. Thanks again, Jibmeister. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for the memories. Thank you for sharing that insight and those memories, Steve. Those were some great times. But yeah, I guess your right about that being a problem with my board. By how it was titled Jib's Realm (My Realm), I seriously took that to heart made boards that refered to my interests in hopes of attracting conversations with people who shared those interests. I guess a lot of people don't share my interests, at least no on Facebook, or maybe they would rather visit a forum completely dedicated to one particular interest. I am considering that possibly down the road, I may start a new message board, but that will be a considerable amount time away before I do so. Regardless, I will continue to post on here and bring as much life to this place as I can. Though I expect to get banned from a lot of message boards in the future, but I will always have this place as a refuge from trolls and asshole mods/admins. Thank you for being such a great friend and I will not only keep posting on here, but I will still call you from time to time as well.

I'll tell you what - you needed something unique that no other forum has. That's how a place stays in business.
For example, I don't know how successful D&M used to be but that place was strung along only barely by a few fans and whatever they had to talk about. Steve's board thrives off of the comraderie between members. We know most of each others' personalities and tastes and no one is basically superior to anyone else. We talk through attitude storms rather than walking off in a childish huff (Dr. Blood). And we represent a lot of different age groups and tastes. Etc.

Should I ever start a new message board someday, I'll be sure to have it stand out from the other message boards on the Internet. Though, I will need some help of coming up with a really successful idea. As for how successful D&M used to be, people came on their to talk with Shawn and MJ (mainly just Shawn, since MJ very rarely posted). However, once Shawn got too busy to post on there, fans felt like there was no point in posting on it, so everyone stopped and that is how D&M died.

One thing you'll want to do is come up with your own Content. You can't just make up sub-boards for discussions you'd like to see people have. Try getting a few started. Write an opinion of your own. Like an article. Post your favorite music or clips from movies you love. Make the board almost like your very own website.

I think that is why this place has thrived so long. We all come from different places, struggles, we are good to each other, we fight (like brothers, never bashing or hating each other) and we respect on another like a family. I guess you can say, we trust each other.

Though, to do such things with a message board will require a lot of experience with constructing message boards. Though, I'll likely learn to do such things down the road. This summer I want to renovate a little. That means more promotion around my town if possible and online. I want to get the word out and have people have the experiences I did with message boards.
