Once again another reboot... i know, surprise right?
Well this time The Mummy franchise which starred Brendan Frasor and featured 3 movies and one spin-off being The Scorpion King will officially be getting a reboot.
Now i remember watching these when i was younger and enjoyed the first two, but was never really a "huge" fan of these films. They could be compared to a modern Indiana Jones, which is a bit of a stretch seeing as how iconic Indiana Jones is.
But to see this get a reboot just years after the release of the 3rd movie is ridiculous. I know the studio's want to get these movies out but just because you cant secure a 4th sequel, does that mean you need to immediately reboot it?!?
I was pissed off when they did this to Spider-man ( no need to reboot ) but this is just another franchise to join the reboot trend in Hollywood.
What does everyone think of not only this franchise but the fact its getting a reboot?

I've never watched any of The Mummy movies but it seems the point of a reboot has almost lost its meaning entirely. A reboot is making an effort to reacquainte the public with a series that has been gone for many years. Personally, I think it was somewhat necessary to reboot Captain America. But NOT The Mummy or Spider-Man. That is just gratuitous. It's not like anyone has forgotten what those movies are.

A reboot is meant to revitalize a FAILED AND/OR FORGOTTEN franchise after MANY LONG YEARS; the Batman franchise is the perfect example of what needed a reboot. Now it seems like everything is being a given a "quick" reboot. Reboots are not supposed to be quick! Nor are they suppose to be repeated! That is why I hate all Transformer incarnations after Beast Machines and Car Robots. While CR (or RID) would have worked fine as a stand-alone, Hasbro was quick to reboot the whole Transformer mythos with that godawful Unicron trilogy. Then they did it again with those abysmal live-action movies. Then again with Animated. And then yet again with Prime! Reboots are meant to restore life to a franchise and for all of the right reasons. As we have seen with Transformers, the reboot is just being used to beat a dead horse. That is why I am really hoping that, if Hasbro does not return to the original continuity (which I doubt they will; Transtech will never happen!), then I hope that they will scrap TFs entirely and move on to a completely original idea. So yeah, that is all I have to say in regards to the trend of reboots.

Reboots are just remakes with false justification.

Reboots are just remakes with false justification. Y'know, I used to argue that the difference between a reboot and a remake is that reboots don't suck. Apparently, I was wrong, for there really is no difference at all.

Apparently, I was wrong, for there really is no difference at all. I should take that previous post back, for some reboots have justification. Rebooting Captain America was logical because (a) it was showing us his story for the upcoming Avengers film, and (b) because we haven't seen a film from the character in, I think, twenty-two years. It was fair to reboot his story to people that weren't entirely sure of his origins. But rebooting Spider-Man and starting a whole new franchise when the last film was made just five years ago is simply ludicrous. Nothing more than a desperate plea for money.
