By now, there is no doubt that you have heard about the issue of Floridian neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman gunning down 17-year-old Trayvon Martion, supposedly out of self-defense. This was an issue that began back in February and has been going on for two months now, and still there is strong demand by the public that Zimmerman be prosecuted for his actions. In fact, there is a petition with over two million signatures that are pushing for both the arrest and trial of Zimmerman on charges of manslaughter. I have signed the petition myself, seeing as to how he should be tried for what happened. While I am not saying he is guilty, nor can I because I was not there, I do think that this is an issue that needs to be settled by a court of law. www.change.org/petitions/prosecute-the-killer-of-our-son-17-year-old-trayvon-martinPeople from Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and even President Barack Obama have expressed their condolences to Martin's family and hope that there will be justice for their case. Yet, it has also created a backlash, as there seems to be hateful messages coming from Zimmerman's supporters and such: www.ksdk.com/news/article/314988/28/Road-sign-hacked-to-display-Trayvon-Martin-hate-messageSo where do you stand on this issue? For me, I am pretty much unaffiliated, other than signing that petition for Martin. I am truly sorry to hear about how the young boy lost his life, yet I do not believe there is enough conclusive evidence to convict Zimmerman. So unlike the media, I do not wish to see him fry on the electric chair, especially since I do not believe in the death penalty. Just like that saying goes "innocent until proven guilty in a court of law", which applies very much to Zimmerman. Unfortunately, while that is a nice idea, the reality is "guilty until proven innocent", and the media has no problem with expressing that notion as they continue to demand for Zimmerman to be tried and convicted. Again, where do you guys stand on this whole issue?

I think Zimmerman is getting railroaded. I support Martin because no one should take away a life of a innocent child but I don't like the media attention of this subject all I hear on the News is Travyon this and Travyon that and the fact that the biggest racist of them all Jesse Jackson is there who in his 1980 presidential campainge called the city of New York Hyme ( racial slur for Jewish people) town Jesse Jackson is basically Whoring this kid for media attention because he was black and the guy was white shot him. Whenever a innocent black kid gets shot by white guy Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is there whoring them out! I think Zimmerman should get life in prison than get the Death Penalty because people should not put people to death because that is playing God he should be put in prison and let the inmates take care of him because in prison if hurt a child your good as dead! I support the Martins and I hope they find justice and closure to there harrowing lost but letting people like Jackson and Sharpton support them! They are people who are media hogs Jackson and Sharpton care for themselves not the little people!

too much attention. instead, why not focus on the video of the white tourist who got mugged in baltimore by a bunch of blacks and while several black onlookers just laughed like a bunch of animals. where's the outrage for the white couple that was tortured by five blacks? zimmerman had a bloody nose and his head was bloody. his back was also wet, likley because he had been pushed down (it was raining that night hence the hood on trayvon). he was just a kid and its a shame he's dead but it's not a race thing, it's a the south is kinda fucked up thing.

I don't think that this is a race issue at all. Zimmerman is Hispanic and lives in a predominately white community. The Reverend Al Sharpton has blown this whole thing out of proportion by accusing the whole community of harboring racist sentiment. This is like the Gunter Grass ordeal. Gunter Grass, a Nobel laureate from Germany who had served with the SS as a young man, wrote a poem criticizing the nuclear program of Israel. In retaliation, the Israeli government labeled him as anti-Semitic, when his poem had nothing to do with the Jewish faith. I agree, this isn't a race issue at all. It has only become a race issue because the racially oversensitve media and Black supremacist assholes like Sharpton and Jackon have blown this far out of propotion. While I am sorry that Trayvon Martin lost his life, but based on what we have heard from the story so far, it appears that Zimmerman may have shot him out of self-defense. Whether or not that really is the case, it is quite certain that race was NOT a motive in the shooting. They are people who are media hogs Jackson and Sharpton care for themselves not the little people! Wow, Pat, a verdict has yet to be reached, and already you are siding with those who wish to see Zimmerman's ass fry on the electric chair. Please, Pat, wait for the court order to get rolled out before wish for such punishments for Zimmerman. Also, you say that Zimmerman was playing God by taking Martin's life, but wouldn't the state of Florida also be playing God if they were to sentence Zimmerman to death? I think so. too much attention. instead, why not focus on the video of the white tourist who got mugged in baltimore by a bunch of blacks and while several black onlookers just laughed like a bunch of animals. where's the outrage for the white couple that was tortured by five blacks? zimmerman had a bloody nose and his head was bloody. his back was also wet, likley because he had been pushed down (it was raining that night hence the hood on trayvon). he was just a kid and its a shame he's dead but it's not a race thing, it's a the south is kinda fucked up thing. Quite true. It is only when hateful acts are commited against Black people by other races is it ever deemed as news. Yet, when Black people do hateful acts against other races, or even each other, it mostly goes unnoticed. Anyway, already there is a video up on YouTube of Zimmerman appearing in court and it is receiving hits like crazy: I'm sure when Trayvonn Martin: Hidden Truth comes out the flaws of the case will finally be exposed. But not until a few years from now, after a long trial and a jail sentence for George Zimmerman. Ain't that the sad truth, Zender. Though, I won't be surprised if the verdict reads "not guilty", but we won't know the whole story until that book you mentioned is published. Even then, we may not have all of the details!
