Orphan was most certainly not excellent. Slant Magazine's review alone proves that. And Nick Schager already has lower standards than half the horror fans I've met online in over 6 years.
So, I've decided not to waste my money in buying it, renting it, or my time in watching it. It's obviously a very boring and shallow little turd.
Sorry. But hey, this gives you the chance to learn something about me. I'm a mountain- try moving me on something like this. My foot is on the "Orphan's not excellent" side. You're going to find it's heavier than 100 James Gandolfini's sitting on a skyscraper.

I still say give it a shot. Esther does some pretty creepy fucking things in the movie. The girl from The Departed is there, Shawn says check it out, Ebert gave it 3 and a half stars, Roeper gave it 3, and I say check it out. Except for uptight scrotums, people seem to really like it. Just give a shot NP, rent it, or watch it on PPV.

Sorry, I know how to judge movies before I see them. I mean, you CAN tell acting quality, filmmaking integrity, and several other things by just seeing the advertisements. And I'm just going to say it - I'm fucking sick and tired of horror movies with these upper-middle class people in trendy clothes who are fairly well-to-do. Everyone looks and acts the same. The dialogue is always boring. A movie like this is impossible to get the creeps from unless... well, again forgive my honesty (because it's brutal) - unless a person is easy to creep out. I'm not.
I want something a lot more interesting and original and different. And I know Orphan won't be that. Just that scene with her in the school classroom made me groan out loud. I've already seen Carrie. And May. And Ginger Snaps. And tons of other movies about girls that didn't get along with their classmates in high school or girls elsewhere. Tamara. Devil in the Flesh. The Woods. That Lifetime movie with Sarah Chalke and Punky Brewster in it. Hell- even that Alyssa Milano vampire movie. And at least one Children of the Corn sequel. I'm sick of this cliche.
