Corey Haim helps out a local neighbor in Oh, What a Night.
Rating: ★★★
Oh, What a Night is a Corey Haim film that is about the thing he focuses on best, "love." Blown Away, Dream Machine, Just One of the Girls, License to Drive, Lucas, and more films in his filmography all dealt with a topic of love. I guess Corey Haim has a lot of women on his mind. Some funny trivia for you guys; he never got married. He was engaged to women like Nicole Eggert and Tiffany Shepis, but never followed through with it. No comment.
The film is set in 1955 where a young farmer boy who is new to the area named named Eric (Haim) is faced with some life changing obstacles. He is in a new area, adapting to new ways of life, and meeting a lot of pretty women on his way to an adult. Eric meets an older woman named Vera (Williams) who is frustrated at this point in her life because of her overprotective husband. Eric has strong feelings for Vera, and not in an American Pie "MILF" way, but actual feelings for this woman.
Vera, at first, is a bit naive to Eric's feelings for her, but as time goes on and a dance at the fair between the two has occurred, Vera finds out Eric's feeling are legitimate and the two become closer and closer much to the dismay of Vera's husband.
Many Corey Haim films don't need a huge synopsis written about them. With The Double O Kid, all that needed to be stated was it was a decent action-comedy that didn't do much to revamp the genre. But it did have nice fighting scenes and a respectable budget considering it was the nineties and it was Direct-to-Dvd.
Oh, What a Night was released in 1992, and seems like a sequel to Lucas. But it couldn't even be considered a follow-up since it takes place about thirty years prior to the events in Lucas. I'll think Lucas 2 when I hear it mentioned, that is, if I'm the only person who has come in contact with it or owns this film. Compared to all the other things thrown into theaters that don't belong, in a way it's sad that Oh, What a Night got a Direct-to-Dvd treatment.
Starring: Corey Haim and Barbara Williams. Directed by: Eric Till.
