First of all.. This is my first time back on the board in quite some time, nice to see this place still going strong! So since ive seen a bunch of movies lately i guess i can do up a review or 2. I dont usually do Movie Reviews but bare with me and here we go.
Dream House. (Possible Spoilers in Review)
Okay, so when i saw the trailer of this movie, i was super excited. With a cast that includes Daniel Craig, Naomi Watts, and Rachel Weisz.. It had to be good. I figured that it would be along the same lines as Shutter Island, a real psychological thriller and a movie that will always keep you thinking. Now as the movie starts, Daniel Craigs character purchases a house in a rural neighbourhood to get away from the city life. This plays on the approach of the `House could be haunted` type of movie. Now thats fine and dandy and all but seriously another haunted house Movie! But as the movie goes on you find out that it is not that at all. This is definately a thriller, The constant twists in Craigs character are endless. Now not to give anything away.. It goes from you thinking he did the crime..to then no he didnt, to hes insane..to hes being setup..back to maybe he did do it.. It keeps you on your toes for sure...So with that said.. there is alot of predictability in the movie where its not hard to tell whats about to happen but still very well done when it comes to the script. Daniel Craig excels at playing a delusional convict..husand..father character. Great chemistry with him and his family and reaches a point of sympathy that the viewer gets with this man by what hes going through.. The movie keeps you thinking, which is very important. You actually feel the want to find out if Craig did do the crime or not.. Its back and forth until the end which reveals everything. The ending, not to spoil anything is kind of silly in my opinion.. but it all makes sense. Overall this movie was not as good as Shutter Island, but with that said Daniel Craig was awesome, the concept was okay.. Nothing overly special, but worth the money to see in theatres. If you like thrillers or suspense movies then this is for you. I would definately rent or buy this one when it comes out.
Overall Grade: B+
Thanks, 1 in the books.. hopefully it wasnt too bad.
