Woke up at 4:45am, got a text from my mom about ten minutes later, have been up since glued to the damn TV. This is truly a stunning and saddening event. A gunman, identified as twenty-four year old James Holmes, walked into a screening of The Dark Knight Rises at the Century 16 Cinema in Aurora, Colorado, at about 12:50am, threw tear gas and shot and killed twelve people, while injuring about fifty. They said the youngest victim was a three month year old baby (who brings that young of a kid to a theater?), as well as a six year old.
Just unfathomable. Here's a video taken at the scene of people leaving the theater screaming, crying, covered in blood, etc. Keep an eye out for a man in a striped black and white shirt who is drenched in blood.

Sorry to have to say this but THE MEDIA is why people do things like this. They want the fame and attention that come from news stations and papers talking about them as well as people posting YouTube videos about it.
But you know people are going to blame movies for this. Although, truly I've never been more proud of myself for refusing to go to theaters to watch my movies.

But I love how the media is so quick to jump on film and entertainment. What about how the media will glorify an incident like this, showing people how famous killers become and the attention they'll receive during a tragedy like this? Nobody thinks that has anything to do with it." What I wrote on Facebook no less than an hour ago. I agree wholeheartedly and finally someone can see it too.

Apparently, the killer rigged his apartment with explosives for police to find. This story keeps getting stranger.

If anything, they should just refer to the suspect as "the gunman" to leave him anonymous and thus cut him off from receiving any sort of fame (more like infamy). But anyway, it is likely that the Dark Knight trilogy will be blamed for this tragedy, when really it had no part at all (other than the shooting taking place at a screening of TDKR). Which is just pitiful, since outlets of entertainment cannot nor should be held responsible for a tragedy; it should always be purely the perpetrater. I still want to see TDKR in IMAX, but I just know that a lot of people are going to be turned off from going to the movies because of this incident.

I still want to see TDKR in IMAX, but I just know that a lot of people are going to be turned off from going to the movies because of this incident. I doubt it. The film will still gross untold millions at the box office. I'll still see at 9:00am Sunday morning. Not really afraid. I remember when I was younger, there were people sniping and killing people who were getting gas at a Maryland gas station. They kept reporting it in Illinois and I got so scared, I would cry if my mom would go to the gas station with me in the car (I was about three or four). I used to get down on the floor of the car, shake, cry, and panic. One of the most traumatic experiences of my life. That's a totally different story. I've had the TV on Fox News all day listening to reports of this. Apparently, the man is tight-lipped now that he is lawyered-up and ready to go for Monday. Here's his picture for those who have not seen it yet. Looks pretty ordinary in this one, but then again, don't they all.

Apparently it's being dubbed 'The Midnight Massacre'. This was just my personal title. I've heard "2012 Arizona Shooting," "The Murder in Theater Nine," "The Dark Night," etc.

Yeah, I woke up, looked at my phone, saw your Twitter post, turned on the TV, and there it was. I was posting a lot this morning on the issue. Was just upset and angry at all the innocent people killed.

My mom and I plan to see it in IMAX this coming Thursday. We may even see it a second time at the Lake Twin Theater. While I'm sure TDKR will still be a box office hit this weekend, I just can't shake the feeling that the Aurora massacre is going to hurt its box office performance. There are just too many people in this country that our susceptible to fear mongering. As for the pictured suspect, he looks kind of creepy in that photo, much like Jared Lauffner. Yet, I am surprised he is not pictured with "red" hair, since he claimed to be the "Joker" (who doesn't even have red hair!).

Just the fact I was in Theater watching the movie when this happened in Colorado brings chills down my spine because it could've happened where I was at! But my Heart goes out to the who had to suffer because of this Madman!

Just some more photos of this nut I scanned the web for today. Holmes at an undisclosed younger age. One of the first photos taken with his red hair. Old yearbook photo of him, as well. I also just got done watching the entire court appearance on TV as well. He appeared very dazed, disconnected, unfocused, and sometimes seemed to be dozing off. Completely careless. Crossing my fingers for a death penalty trial. Holmes at his first court appearance.
