As a big Tremors fan, I saw this years ago and thought it was horrible. Watching it back, it's still the worst in the series, but a decent prequel.
Perfection, now Rejection looks the same as it will in the future. Townspeople are very dependent on a silver mine, when graboid eggs begin hatching because of a hot spring fountain near the mine. The mine becomes to dangerous to be near or work in.
The owner of the mine, Hiram Gummer, great grandfather of Burt Gummer (Both portrayed by Michael Gross), comes to town to repair it, though finds he is dealing with leaping monsters who later turn in to the classic snake like creatures we see in "Tremors" and briefly in the sequels.
Frustrated and hopeless, Hiram hires a gunfighter by the name of Black Hand Kelly (Billy Drago) who tries to assist, but ends up getting eaten by the giant monsters.
Silly in places, yes. But it's just a little different. Being a "Tremors" fan, I liked it. Personally thought, I think a prequel was unneeded. They could have included that in the beginning of the original "Tremors". I would have preferred a sequel with Kevin Bacon, Christopher Gartin, Michael Gross (as Burt), and Fred Ward all together in one movie.
It's heart is in the right place, but it's brain is drifting.
