The Corvair in Action! (1960) The Chevrolet Corvair as shown in its 1960 promotional video. Rating: ★★★ Perhaps you love vehicles and the automobile industry, perhaps you drove a Chevrolet Corvair when it was brand new and fearlessly embraced rugged terrain, or you simply find the wonders of old instructional short films appealing in their own quirky way. Either way, there are few reasons not to see The Corvair in Action!, a short, promotional video relic from 1960 that boasted the Corvair's durability and reliability as a mid-sized vehicle for the turn of the decade. From footage showcasing the Corvair handling off-road terrain like an ATV and boasting its ability to stop on the slickest of surfaces, it would see the only thing the Corvair is scared to do is handle a blanket of snow during a brutal midwest winter. Nonetheless, this six-minute oddity combines the most lovable parts of old promotional films (the product placement, the grainy videography, the corny narration, and the hard-sell aspect of solicitation) with an amiable and brief showcase of what looks to be a promising vehicle.
