I'm not trying to start and argument Steve, although I probably will.

Probably the best show in TV history. No. No, no, no. Don't take this to personally, but no. If you tell me no, you'd better have a good one to combat it with. What would you say is probably the best TV show in history? And beware telling me something silly or I'll have to go in depth on why Roseanne is better than that show. My in-depths tend to be so in-depth, you could drown. At least, as far as sheer volume of text is concerned.

Fair enough.
The greatest TV show in history is the Wire. Six seasons of dark, gritty, realistic drama. Doesn't get much better than Omar Little or Stringer Bell.

I wouldn't dream of arguing with someone over a drama show. Usually it takes a less intelligent person to plug into a drama because the tone of a drama becomes overbearing to the point of repetition. Whereas comedies can get very serious and not be funny... then be funny again. Dramas are rarely anything but straining to be compelling based on a stern attitude (Jesus- just like at 24, that friggin' thing is more redundant than The Lampchop Song!). This may not apply to The Wire, but if it doesn't- that makes it a rare exception to the rule. If you're a fan of the idea of dark, gritty, realistic- you must be a big fan of today's (though it started in the late 90's) Action-Thriller brand of Horror. Any comedies better than Roseanne?

Dont get me wrong. How I have not seen The Wire I watched the first season of Oz and didnt like it. One it wasnt my thing, and two after a while, the episodes got redundant and how it could last six seasons is explict. Drama tends to repeat itself with a dark setting and depressed characters. However, The Wire is one I may borrow from my uncle.

The Wire avoids redundancy by constantly introducing new characters and storylines. Every season takes place in a different facet of the Baltimore crime world (drugs, docks, city government, school, and so on). But the show manages to tie together all of the storylines throughout the series. So The Wire is an exception to that rule.
But enough about the Wire, to answer No Personality's question, Arrested Development is a much better comedy than Roseanne. There's also Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiasm, South Park, Clerks animated, and a bunch of others.

South Park is not better than Roseanne. Seinfeld is brilliant - but hard to compare, since you don't need to like the characters to enjoy that show. Seinfeld did not shake the world, since it used cold observational humor. Roseanne did. Because it actually delivered more than humor and subversion. It was also more intelligent than any viewer could have expected.
That's a damn good way to sell a person on a show, I may actually have to check Wire out.

Definitely Dude, you got me wanting to check out The Wire real bad now as well. Though South Park is not better than Roseanne. Cant say Clerks: The Animated Series is either since it had a seven episode run and three out of the seven shows suck.
As for Seinfeld, I dont watch it. Never got into it I guess. Im sure its a good show in a lot of people's eyes, just never my thing.

Clerks was only six episodes, and all were hilarious. Glad to hear both of you interested in the Wire. It's not perfect, but it's damn close.

Clerks was only six episodes, and all were hilarious. Glad to hear both of you interested in the Wire. It's not perfect, but it's damn close. I loved the first, second, fifth, and last episode. They were all fucking hilarious. Episode four (or whatever the baseball one was) sucked. Third was decent, but my all time favorite was the last episode. It was the closest to the movie.

The baseball episode (which I think is the fifth) is my all time favorite. It's so damn funny. Episode four was the trial of Dante which was great too. Third is probably my least favorite.

I guess we're gonna do this. How this topic turned from a review of a Full House episode to a discussion of what episodes of the Clerks animated series are good, kind of amazes me.
Episode 1: Funny Episode 2: Amazing Episode 3: My least favorite of the bunch. Still funny. Episode 4: Greatest ending to a TV episode ever. Episode 5: Best in the series. Episode 6: Amazing ending to the series.

The Last Episode Ever was the closest we were going to get to the original movie. I remember that they always talked about making a live action pilot and when Brian and Jeff tried out and Kevin called it off they both were glad they didnt get the part. From reviews on IMDB few people have seen clips and behind the scenes shit for it and I would kill to see that stuff.

Sorry about re-posting the Full House review, but I tried to separate it and the replies. To do that, I had to start this new topic - which I WANTED to kick off with the starter post you see now but the thing that moved all the old posts wouldn't allow me to make a new post before the old posts. Idiotic system. Oh, well.
