My point of view Roseanne is a great show another I like is Different Strokes that delt with alot issues like drugs, kidnapping and the famous Bike Shop episode! In those episodes they have a cast member to warn the contense of the episode! Another T.V. show that delt with life problems is The Facts of Life dealing with sex, suicide and weight problems these shows were like the Full House and Roseanne of my times! So rember sometimes the past opens the door to the future!

I still say Roseanne is probably the best show ever made. It's not just the inclusion of serious issues that made it so great. It's the way the show handled them. They didn't just cut and paste an issue- they looked at it from usually more than 2 different angles. You were able to see characters react in usually realistic anger, sadness, and humor. No other family sitcom was ever this realistic - none that I've ever seen. They created real people. The acting was perfect almost every single time. The writing was smart and clever. The positions they took were highly progressive. And nobody was ever looked at as a hero. Everyone has their slob and baffoonish sides. People were shown to be real. So, the parents didn't just slide in to a situation where the kid was taking caffeine pills to sing covers of Pointer Sisters tunes so they could speak in soft, sensitive tone while raising a dry eyebrow at a Kimmy Gibler one-liner (any number of idiot "Parents Know Best" shows). And they didn't just boss the kids around either while playing superior to them while the kids would just rub their finger in their cheek and go, "Gee- I've got a lot to learn! Guess I'd better go get to studying" (The Cosby Show). In Roseanne, everyone had a lot to learn- even the parents. And nothing came easy. Problems were often not solved by the end of the episode. But the characters were given a way to look at their problems as though things might turn out okay.
