More of Curb Your Enthusiasm season six for me. The season is hilarious, but heartbreaking at the same time because of Larry and Cheryl separating. I loved Cheryl, and the actress herself. I hate seeing Larry down and the fact they are poking fun at him and taking Cheryl's side. I've been sentimentally attached to this show for two months, and once you get attached to the characters, it's hard to let go. This season is arguably one of the best, but it's hard to believe Cheryl is almost gone.

Finished season six of Curb. Very good season. Lots of hilarious episodes, and very memorable lines.
Watched the first two episodes of the seventh season. I still really miss Cheryl, but so far, this season is off to a strong start. I wasn't sure how I felt about the Blacks in season six, but now that I've been exposed to them longer they are a hilarious bunch. Especially Leon.
As for season eight, it will probably take another two years to come out. So I plan to DVR every episode (thank God, like every season, there's only ten) from the season and start watching them in order when I get them all. I already got "Mister Frostee," "Larry vs. Michael J. Fox," and am recording "The Divorce" in a few days. This could take a few weeks, or a few months. All depends when the hell they want to come on.

Set my DVR to record the whole series of Yes, Dear so I've been dancing around that for a couple of days now. Watched five episodes between this and yesterday morning. Not the greatest sitcom, but a funny and amusing one. Really like Anthony Clark. Still - when compared to something like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Still Standing, it isn't much. But I'd still like a Dvd release of both this and Still Standing. I think that they are both due for a release soon.

Finished Curb season seven. Overall, found it to be a very funny season. Going into this with very little Seinfeld knowledge, I came out wanting to give the show another try. Even though it looks like every other sitcom. As for season eight, I've DVR-ed three out of ten episodes so far. Two episodes air every Wednesday so I have four waiting to be recorded, and three others still pending an airdate. I have the very first episode of the season already recorded so I'm debating on starting that soon. Although I kind of want to wait until I have the second/third just in case I get ansy waiting for the next one. I'll probably be done with the whole series by late October/early November. Had three people recommend this show to me, and decided to give it a shot. Watched the first two episodes, and realize that I'm a FIEND for dark humor. This show's humor is so dark and gritty it's hilarious. So far, really liking the show. One positive thing - the episodes are significantly shorter than Curb episodes averaging between twenty-two and twenty-five minutes a piece. Meaning I can watch one more episode a night than I could with Curb. If I start at seven, and then go to bed at nine, I can watch four Sunny's where I only could watch two or three Curb's at most.

Since the 3rd season of Parks and Recreation STILL isn't on Netflix, I'm rewatching Arrested Development. And I've just gotten to the 2 episodes that made me hate Tobias so intensely. DAMN HIM!!

Have been slowing down on Always Sunny because I've been either playing Gears of War 3 from seven to nine on school nights or have been watching another film. But lately, I've still been DVRing and watching a lot of Yes, Dear.

I found out that pretty much all the episodes from the Disney show Recess are online, in great quality, and all in one part rather than one episode spanning two separate videos. Have been watching many of them just for nostalgia purposes. Really wish this show would come back on TV. It was great.

In my time off the board I have watched...
Louie Season 2: Absolutely amazing. Better than season 1. Parks and Recreation Season 3: Best season yet. Ben and Chris are great additions, and Mark is certainly not missed. Breaking Bad (Most recent season 4 episodes): The season started out rough, but the latest episodes have been full of "holy shit" moments it gets too intense to watch. Season finale on Sunday. Cannot fucking wait. Community Season 3: Season is off to a good start. Chang as a security guard is already great, and John Goodman and Michael K. Williams are great additions. The stuff with the group seems lacking though.

I'm somewhere in... the middle (I think) of rewatching season two of Arrested Development. But I'm also watching Mtv's Spyder Games off and on. The YouTube uploaders are being very swervy about actually getting the episodes up. They missed #41 and the guy uploading the latter episodes took an entire month off. It's horrible waiting to get to see the end of this show.

@np You mentioned there were two Arrested Development episodes that made you hate Tobias. What were they?
Breaking Bad: Face Off (Season finale)
Two amazing moments in this otherwise uneventful finale. It was still great, and surprisingly wrapped up almost everything, but a good chunk of it was the Hector/Walt team up. I'm not fiending for another season like I was at the season 3 cliffhanger. The one moment that literally made me go "Holy shit" was worth the whole season.
Season 4 as a whole was good. The start of the season was rough. Moments of brilliance buried by poor storytelling. The back half was incredible. Every episode was better than the last. The first 3 seasons are on Netflix IQ and everybody needs to see them now.

@np You mentioned there were two Arrested Development episodes that made you hate Tobias. What were they? First was "Queen for a Day," naturally. When he used unfrozen company stock to buy the Mary club. The other was "Sad Sack." When he... actually... PRESUMED that someone would make him breakfast and he just TAKES Michael's eggs. I don't care who he cooked them for or whether at that point, Tobias might have been a little less wanted-by-the-government than George Sr. Those eggs didn't belong to him. The only explanation is that Tobias knew the eggs weren't for him (because only an INSANE ASSHOLE would think otherwise- and, asshole though he is, Tobias wasn't insane) and decided to manipulate Michael into giving him the eggs so that the audience would want to kick Michael for letting him take the eggs instead of shooting Tobias for stealing them. But Michael likely believed Tobias was insane which makes Tobias the worse of the two because he was playing mindgames just to steal something that didn't belong to him.

I'm up to Season 3 in Frasier. I'm going to try and introduce a new thing with TV shows called a "Success Rate." The first two seasons were struggling to find a sense of humor that worked. For example, they built up Frasier and Niles as these two ultra-sophisticated guys and have always had trouble trying to show off their "hounddog" sides. You know? They had the same problem, actually, with the Bulldog character. I don't think these writers are sure they know how to write "typical" straight male behavior. They have the classy stuff down pat, they actually know a thing or two about psychology, and there's a great deal of funny stuff going on. But the show fails desperately at getting really serious, as I mentioned they don't know how to turn one of the classy brothers into a dog, and a lot of the father's reverse snobbery isn't strong. So, the father is the character they need to work on the most.
Anyway, I'd give season 1 a 65-70% Success Rate.
Season 2... about the same. It was funnier, for sure. But it also had a couple very serious problems: Daphne has gotten really dumb, and the Cheers guest star thing reached an all-time low with Ted Dansen literally taking over the show. Not to mention it falls victim to corniness a lot of the time.
Best thing about the show, both seasons, is easily David Hyde Pierce. He's quicker than anyone else, he goes all-out physically, he fooled me for the show's entire run into thinking he was actually straight, and he's absolutely adorable. Although he definitely has competition as of season 3- Mercedes Ruehl. I really look forward to seeing more of her in episodes to come. Let's hope they're smart enough to make her a big part of the season. 2 episodes in so far and it's a greatly improved season so far but they're also using Daphne and the father a lot less.
Oh, yeah, and I've been watching a ton of That Guy with the Glasses vid's all year. My Most Recent:
Welshy - Killjoy 2 (Success Rate: 70-75% = the skits were just terrible, although it lead to his interesting costume change. The commentary was, in typical Welshy fasion, FAST and extremely detailed. He's a very underrated member of the site. I can't recommend his review vids enough.)
FilmBrain - Bad Movie Beatdown: Diary of the Dead (Success Rate: 55% = a lot of his complaints seemed shockingly... like he was complaining for no reason, it doesn't help that I haven't seen the movie but why he's complaining about any movie portraying white characters as bad made BY a white filmmaker is a little forced and perplexing given that white on black racism is still very relevant today, also forced were all his comments about Romero's age- it didn't make him look like he had a point and Romero is losing it, it made FB look desperate for something personal to hold against the director)
Phelous - Halloween: Resurrection (Success Rate: 65-70% = he's really preaching to the converted on this one but a lot of his observations are good even if the movie is too easy a target. Oh... and the Tyra Banks jokes were very funny.)
Nostalgia Chick - The Lion King 3D (Success Rate: 20% = Okay, here's the thing... I love the Nostalgia Chick and she's actually my favorite commentator at TGwtG.com. And, while everyone else was complaining about her very dark and unloving reviews of a lot Disney films, among others, laced with some very potent feminist views and socio-political commentary- I stayed with her. I thought her Jem and the Holograms review was weak too but, even though her analysis has never been complete, it's always been smart, opinionated, and thought-provoking. All of which are good. However, this video stunk. And, in fact, goes a lot way to shattering her credibility almost entirely. Which is just sad considering the amazing rebound she was on with her reviews of She's All That - one of her best, Cruel Intentions, and the Meg Ryan movies. She was even getting better at doing skits. But this latest review, where she is just bending over backwards to kiss The Lion King's stanky butt is the fastest way for her to make herself stale. Either she's losing inspiration or she's caving in to pressures put onto her by people who thought she was being too negative. Even her review of The Little Mermaid - which was 85% skit - was better than this.)
Obscurus Lupa - Allison's Halloween Candy Spooktacular (Success Rate: 65% = I don't watch most of the "Tries" videos where everyone tries food they've never had before but this one was only so-so.)
Obscurus Lupa - Howling 7: New Moon Rising (Success Rate: 65% = of all the TGwtG commentators, I feel Lupa and I have the most similar tastes. And so, the greatest measure of a successful OLP video is if she leaves me with an overwhelming desire to see the movie she's talking about. Case in point: Tammy and the T-Rex or Howling IV: The Original Nightmare. Her commentary here looked more fun than the movie and I didn't feel Lupa was at her best. It's okay, though.)
The Cinema Snob - 80's Dan - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (Success Rate: 80% = I truly don't like The Cinema Snob's videos and I've tried a few. He's never clicked for me. However, he has a lot of different formats and there are a few that REALLY work. This one does, as it involves a host of other characters including his wife and a couple of their party friends watching an 80's movie. Some of them nitpick and some defend the movie against them. This episode just went all-out, Brad / Snob was actually likable for a change, his wife Jill is actually a great character when she plays off him like this, and the friends are good for added commentary. Although, I disagree with their end conclusion that the movie actually is underrated and holds up better than its' reputation. I don't think it's that bad but they were arguing it's actually pretty good and that I can't agree with.)
The Cinema Snob - Brad Tries Japanese Kit Kats (Success Rate: 75% = Again, another format that really works for Brad / The Cinema Snob. The presentation was a lot of fun, I don't know where the hell he was able to get so much foreign candy like this but I like the thoroughness of his acquisitions, and they kept things going / held our interest. At least until the video segued off into outtakes from Linkara and Spoony. Before that, Jill was actually hurting the video slightly by complaining about going off her diet to try Kit Kats which are mostly chocolate. Next time... just don't do the video. But, when she stopped complaining and actually participated, her input was appreciated.)
The Nostalgia Critic - The Haunting 1999 (Success Rate: 75-80% = the fart / pants shitting jokes were stupid but, congratulations to Doug for really tearing this movie apart and going to such incredible lengths to do so. Extremely detailed.)
The Nostalgia Critic - The Exorcist II (Success Rate: 60-65% = some good observations but he lacked a bit of appreciation into the more outrageous elements of the movie. I laughed but he left too much on the cutting room floor.)
The Nostalgia Critic - Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (Success Rate: 70% = I don't remember the movie at all but his comments reminded me of how much I didn't hate the movie when it came out. Compared to the first movie, which sucks so much poo it isn't even funny. He didn't recap the first movie very well but he had a lot to say about the sequel. Wrong attitude but nonetheless, he had a lot to say about the movie and the video worked. Although... this one REALLY had Phelous's name written all over it. His commentary would have been superior if not funnier.)
Paw - Music Movies: The Wicker Man 1973 (Success Rate: 70% = I give Paw a lot of chances because I LOVE his videos with PushingUpRoses. However, usually, his "Music Movies" videos are just no good. Case in point: his review of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which literally bordered on unintentional homophobia- even though he liked the movie, he made remark after remark that were just plain ignorant. Even though he's a really nice guy, he just couldn't get it together. Similarly, he also fell apart on A Nightmare Before Christmas and didn't draw me in with any insight. Mostly, he just summed up the movie and didn't have anything funny to say. And this isn't his best video yet, that belongs to The Sound of Music. He just has a long way to go in perfecting his technique. He can't carry a show on his own- he needs to become funnier on his own. Which he can probably do, since he's utterly hilarious with PURoses.)
Pushing Up Roses - Let's Play - Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? (Success Rate: 80% = This is a lower score for her because she produces THE best videos for the site that I watch - bar none - along with Oancitizen, Critic, and Chick. In this video, she tried out a new co-host and he wasn't very funny. But he brought out a funnier side in her than in some of her recent videos with Paw. The best part was when she sang "Jealous of My Boogie." One of her CUTEST moments ever, and she's adorable anyway.)
Pushing Up Roses - Let's Play - School Bus Driver (Success Rate: 85% = This is one of her very first videos and it's a slightly lower score for her and Paw because they couldn't figure out how to play the game which affected the level they played at. But watching them react to the game was funny and, of course, one of the greastest highs of these videos are how old and obscure the games they play are.)
